< >The line will be sailing more ships on the continent than ever before
Royal Caribbean has announced its line-up of European voyages for summer 2023, with more ships sailing in the continent than ever before.
Nine ships will sail to more than 25 countries in the Mediterranean, Scandinavia and the Holy Land.
Now open for sale, the 2023 sailings include 35 itineraries that range from five to 12 nights.
The line’s newest ship Odyssey of the Seas will make a return to Europe, along with Oasis Class ship Symphony of the Seas.
Popular family ship Anthem of the Seas will return to Southampton for sailings to the Norwegian fjords, Portugal and the Canary Islands.
Itinerary highlights include those taking place onboard Odyssey of the Seas, which is cruising from Rome on a series of seven- to nine-night voyages to Naples, the Greek Islands and Turkey, and 12-night Holy Land sailings.
Symphony of the Seas is cruising from Barcelona and Rome on a seven-night cruise to destinations including Naples, Palma de Mallorca, Spain and Provence, France.
The aspiring entrepreneurs were faced with a challenge onboard the liner
Virgin Voyages’ Scarlet Lady played a starring role in the first episode of the new series of The Apprentice.
The episode, which aired on BBC One on January 6, saw 16 aspiring entrepreneurs setting sail from Portsmouth onboard Scarlet Lady.
Lord Alan Sugar tasked the hopefuls with coming up with marketing campaigns for the new cruise liner, including a television advert and a social media tease.
Now available on iPlayer, the BBC says that “one team’s approach to design is far from plain sailing, while on the other team, discord during the advert filming leads to choppy waters. Later, both teams attempt to cruise into the lead when pitching their ad campaigns to industry experts, but they end up with that sinking feeling”.
Virgin’s first-ever cruise ship Scarlet Lady is an adults-only liner with 17 decks. The ship has rockstar-style suites and a tattoo parlour.
The 16th series of The Apprentice was filmed entirely in the UK due to the pandemic and this year’s candidates include three reality TV stars, a pyjama retailer, a pharmacist and a dessert shop owner.
